Bath bombs are a beloved DIY gift for a good reason, and today, I’m excited to share a special recipe for making elegant black bath bombs with activated charcoal. These beauties not only add a touch of luxury to your bath but also offer detoxifying benefits that can leave you feeling refreshed and rejuvenated. Plus, they make fantastic gifts!
Why Activated Charcoal?
Activated charcoal is known for its ability to draw impurities from the skin, making it a wonderful addition to bath bombs. It can help cleanse and purify your skin, leaving you with a fresh and revitalized feeling after your bath.
What You’ll Need:
- 350g of baking soda
- 150g of citric acid, finely powdered
- 15g of activated charcoal powder
- 35g of chickpea flour
- 10g of liquid oil (such as MCT oil or caproic triglycerides)
- 3g of emulsifier Polysorbate 80
- 2-4g of fragrance oil (choose a scent you love – I prefer a candy-like aroma)
Optional Additions: Cosmetic glitter (opt for biodegradable glitter made from corn if you like) adds a festive touch to your bath bombs. However, it’s entirely optional. You can create beautiful spa-like bombs with or without the glitter.
Here’s How to Make Your Black Bath Bombs:
- Combine Dry Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, thoroughly combine baking soda, powdered citric acid, activated charcoal, and chickpea flour. This dry mixture forms the base of your bath bombs.
- Prepare the Wet Ingredients: In a separate cup, combine your chosen liquid oil, fragrance oil, and emulsifier Polysorbate 80. Ensure they are well mixed.
- Mix It All Together: Gradually add the wet mixture to your dry ingredients. Blend everything together, ensuring that the oils and fragrances are evenly distributed. If the mixture doesn’t hold together, you can lightly spritz it with rubbing alcohol to help it stick.
- Shape Your Bath Bombs: Carefully pack the mixture into your preferred bath bomb molds. You can create large 7 cm diameter bombs or smaller 5 cm ones, depending on your preference. Press the mixture firmly into the molds.
- Let Them Dry: Allow your bath bombs to dry and harden in the molds for 24-48 hours. This ensures they maintain their shape and don’t crumble.
- Packaging and Gifting: Once fully dried, gently remove the bath bombs from the molds and package them as desired. These homemade bath bombs make fantastic gifts for friends and family during the holiday season or any special occasion.
Whether you keep these luxurious black bath bombs for yourself or share them as heartfelt gifts, they are sure to add a touch of elegance and relaxation to your bath time. Enjoy this DIY bath bomb recipe, and revel in the delightful benefits of activated charcoal for your skin. Happy pampering! 😊🖤
